EXION

Exion for sun-damaged skin in London

Years of sun leave the skin of the face, the chest and the forearms thickened, yellowed and leathery, with coarse lines. In our practice sun-damaged skin is treated with the Fractional RF applicator. Fine needles deliver radiofrequency heat into the deeper skin so the damaged collagen remodels and the surface renews. No study measures Exion on sun-damaged skin, and we say so. One to three sessions four to eight weeks apart in our practice, at Exion Clinic, 8 Devonshire Place, with the price in writing at a free consultation.

What it does on sun-damaged skin

In our experience the texture smooths and the coarse lines soften over the months after the course as collagen rebuilds. The brown spots and the red vessels of sun damage are colour, which Lumecca at our sister clinic treats, and the clinician plans the combination at the free consultation. Any mark that has changed shape or colour is checked by a doctor first.

The evidence

Sun-damaged skin is a use we treat in our practice with the Fractional RF applicator; no Exion study measures it, and we say so plainly. A 2026 review of radiofrequency microneedling across 41 studies found it improved wrinkle scores and skin density in sun-aged skin, which stands for the class of treatment. The Fractional RF page sets out the applicator.

The session and who it suits

Numbing cream for about 30 minutes, then the handpiece stamped across the area, in our experience 20 to 40 minutes. Redness and swelling for one to three days, no sun on the area for a week and sunscreen daily. Someone with leathery, lined skin from the sun on the face, chest or forearms, on most skin types after assessment. Not with keloid scarring, an electronic or metal implant, a current tan, and in our practice not in pregnancy or breastfeeding or over an active skin problem. The sessions page sets out the course.
