Underarm sweating that soaks through a shirt whatever the weather is hyperhidrosis, which we treat in our practice with the Fractional RF applicator. Fine needles deliver radiofrequency heat at the depth of the sweat glands under the skin of the armpit, which in published series with other devices left fewer glands working. No study measures Exion for sweating, and we say so. For the underarms we also provide miraDry at our sister clinic, the treatment with a US clearance for underarm sweating, and the clinician says at the free consultation which fits. The course is set at the consultation at Exion Clinic, 8 Devonshire Place, with the price in writing.
What it does for sweating
Heat at the depth of the sweat glands is meant to reduce the number that work, so the armpit sweats less over the weeks after the course; how much varies, and the clinician says so. Sweating that started suddenly, at night, or all over the body has medical causes, and a doctor asks about them before any treatment.
The evidence
Underarm sweating is a use we treat in our practice with the Fractional RF applicator; no Exion study measures it, and we say so plainly. Radiofrequency microneedling series for underarm sweating with other devices exist, and they stand for the class of treatment. The Fractional RF page sets out the applicator.
The session and who it suits
Numbing cream for about 30 minutes, then the handpiece stamped across each armpit, in our experience 20 to 30 minutes; redness and swelling for one to three days, no deodorant on the first day. Someone with underarm sweating beyond the normal who has ruled out a medical cause. Not with an electronic or metal implant, keloid scarring, and in our practice not in pregnancy or breastfeeding or over an active skin problem. The sessions page sets out the course.
