EXION

Exion for acne scars in London

In our practice acne scars are treated with the Fractional RF applicator. Fine needles deliver radiofrequency heat into the deeper skin under the scars so collagen rebuilds beneath them, and in our experience rolling and boxcar scars on the cheeks, temples and back soften over the months after the course. One to three sessions four to eight weeks apart in our practice, at Exion Clinic, 8 Devonshire Place, with the price in writing at a free consultation.

What it does on acne scars

Rolling scars, the soft depressions, and boxcar scars with sharper edges respond as collagen fills them from below; ice-pick scars, the narrow deep pits, respond less and the clinician says so. Active acne is treated first, before Fractional RF, and the clinician says at the free consultation whether Morpheus8 or Genius RF at our sister clinics, both radiofrequency microneedling, is the better fit for your scars.

The evidence

A registered trial of a related BTL needle applicator in 31 people has no published results, and no Exion scar series is published, and we say so. A 2026 review of radiofrequency microneedling across 41 studies found acne scars consistently improved, which stands for the class of treatment. The Fractional RF page sets out the applicator.

The session and who it suits

Numbing cream for about 30 minutes, then the handpiece stamped across the scarred skin, in our experience 20 to 40 minutes. Redness and swelling for one to three days, light crusting for a few days, no make-up on the first day, sunscreen daily. Someone with rolling or boxcar acne scars and no active acne, on most skin types after assessment, with darker skin treated at lower energy in our practice. Not with an electronic or metal implant, keloid scarring, recent isotretinoin, and in our practice not in pregnancy or breastfeeding or over an active skin problem. The sessions page sets out the course.
