Hands give away age when the skin on the back of them thins, crepes and shows the tendons and veins beneath. BTL's gallery shows the hands for its Clear RF resurfacing applicator. In our practice they are treated with the Face applicator, which warms the thin skin with radiofrequency and targeted ultrasound with nothing through it, both hands in one short session. Four sessions, at Exion Clinic, 8 Devonshire Place, with the price in writing at a free consultation.
What it does on the hands
The skin on the back of the hand is warmed to the temperature at which, in BTL's account, it builds collagen, and in our experience the crepey texture tightens and thickens over the weeks after the course. It does not replace lost volume, which a filler does, and it does not fade age spots, which Lumecca at our sister clinic treats; the clinician plans the combination at the free consultation.
The evidence
BTL's gallery shows the hands for its Clear RF applicator rather than the Face applicator, and no study measures them, and we say so. The face page sets out what has been measured.
The session and who it suits
Skin cleaned, a conductive gel, and the handpiece moved over the back of each hand while the console holds the temperature, in our experience about 20 minutes for both. The skin is pink and warm afterwards, with sunscreen on the hands. Someone with thinning, crepey skin on the backs of the hands. Not with an electronic or metal implant, and in our practice not in pregnancy or breastfeeding or over an active skin problem. The sessions page sets out the course.
