The cheeks are the largest zone of the face and the one BTL's gallery shows most for the needle applicator. Enlarged pores, acne scars and uneven texture are treated with Fractional RF. Slackening over the cheekbone is treated with the Face applicator, which warms the skin with radiofrequency and targeted ultrasound and nothing through the skin. Four sessions of the Face applicator or one to three of Fractional RF, at Exion Clinic, 8 Devonshire Place, with the price in writing at a free consultation.
What it does on the cheeks
Fractional RF places heat in the deeper skin through fine needles so collagen rebuilds under pores and scars. The Face applicator warms the whole cheek to the temperature at which, in BTL's account, it builds collagen and its own hyaluronic acid, and in our experience the cheek firms. It does not add volume to a hollow cheek, which a filler does, and it does not lift a heavy mid-face; the clinician says so at the free consultation.
The evidence
BTL's own gallery shows the Fractional RF applicator on the cheeks, and no study measures the cheeks alone, and we say so. The acne scars page covers scarring.
The session and who it suits
Numbing cream for Fractional RF, a conductive gel for the Face applicator, and the handpiece worked over each cheek, in our experience 20 to 30 minutes. The skin is pink and warm afterwards, with one to three days of redness after Fractional RF. Someone with enlarged pores, scars or early slackening on the cheeks. Not with an electronic or metal implant, and in our practice not in pregnancy or breastfeeding or over an active skin problem. The sessions page sets out the course.
